This is a call for participation in the Winter School Times and Spaces of Globalization to be held in Padova from 2oth to 24th February 2017.
The theme is ‘‘Boundaries, borders and walls: what of universality?’’.
As we witness the re-emergence of physical, cultural and political structures of separation between countries, peoples and cultural experiences, the aim is to problematize different - general and particular – meanings of borders and walls: territorial, cultural, discursive, disciplinary; and to explore and reflect on their implications in terms of distinction, separation, fragmentation and challenges to universality.
The call is open to Master’s and PhD students, as well as other interested individuals. A maximum of 20 participants will be admitted. The organizers aim to guarantee a diversity of participants on the basis of geo-cultural background, discipline of study and gender.
There is no registration fee for the Winter School, but participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. 5 scholarships available. Further information and application form can be found here
The deadline for application is December 3, 2016
Accepted applicants will be notified by December 13, 2016.
